The Big Bad Everton Season Preview
For 84 days Evertonians have endured rumors and speculation, exciting preseason matches, and enough worries during those matches to send everyone into despair. Come Saturday all of that ends as Everton begins the 2011-2012 English Premier League campaign against Tottenham at White Hart Lane. But before we involve ourselves with the mundane task of reviewing matches, it is time to preview the upcoming season at Goodison Park.
Everton Player Profiles part 4: The Wild Cards
Thus far I have discussed the Midfield, Attack and Defence in parts 1 to 3. In the final part of the series looking at the Everton squad I review the Wild Cards - those versatile players who are often called upon to play in various positions in the side. To conclude I will estimate the preferred line-up that Everton will start the season.
Everton are blessed with a number of players who have managed to be highly competent in many roles in the side
Everton Player Profiles part 3: The Back Line
Continuing the series of pre-season reviews now I am going to discuss the strengths and weaknesses with the defence - keeper and back four - in the Everton line-up. This is the one area that many give Everton top marks - the midfield has talent but the foundation of Everton's performances has been a solid back four.
Everton Player Profiles: Part 2: The Finishers
Continuing on from where I left off yesterday where I profiled the Playmakers today I am going to discuss the various attributes of the front line - the men who are supposed to put the final ball in the net. Everton are without doubt blessed with two exceptionally talented strikers in 'King' Louis Saha and Yakubu. However the biggest problem for Everton in recent times has been their ability to get both these players off the treatment table, via the psychiatrist's sofa (I jest) and onto the pitch in one piece..
Everton Player Profiles: Part 1: The Playmakers
In the run-up to the new season I'm going to introduce you to the squad - apologies to older readers - and analyse where Everton have depth and shortage - whilst perhaps indicating some of the strengths and weaknesses within the squad. Finally whilst assessing the various components within the team I will discuss their prospects for the upcoming season.
Obviously there have been several topics on the lack of transfer activity since the close of last season - that's rather been doing to death.
