Well, he was free and we have no money. It's a natural step up for Naismith, from the SPL to the EPL. More in depth analysis on what this move means for the team will follow.
Everton open at home to Manchester United on August 18. I like this... if we lose, who cares, we're supposed to lose. If we win or even draw, it's an excellent start to the season. Other highlights: - First away game: 8/25 @ Aston Villa - Derbies: 10/27 v Liverpool, 5/4 @ Liverpool - Boxing Day: 12/26 v Wigan Athletic - Last game: 5/19 @ Chelsea
Three guesses who his rumored replacement is...
Defender Sylvain Distin has signed a one-year extension that keeps him at Everton for one more year. Distin has made 115 appearances for the Blues in the three years he has been at Goodison. He will turn 35 next year.
Don't know if anybody's already seen this, but Toffeeweb has got a shot of next year's home kit (sourced from Twitter). It's a grower.
Everton want cover for Tim Howard since it looks like Jan Mucha will probably leave to look for more first team play. Giefe also may be viewed as a possible successor. I don't see us having a big shot in getting him since Bayern are also in the mix.
Looks like we may lose Baines for 4 weeks (or the rest of the season) with a hamstring tear. I guess it doesn't matter too much since we have nothing to play for. Hopefully, Baines can recover from this and it won't become an issue in the future.
A similar thing happened before the first derby this season, when we got a player [Jack Rodwell] sent off. I don't know what Liverpool's business is. We are not arguing with the referees at Everton.
We've had bad decisions here and have had to take them on the chin. I've not made too big fuss of it. I've not called Mike Riley, not spoke to him. We have to go with the integrity of the referee, which we will do
We have signed another youngster, Sam Kelly. When will this all turn into some type of silverware though?
Could possibly be a Merseyside Derby and London Derby for the semi-finals.
