Everton look set to complete the signing of Belgian winger Kevin Mirallas, reinvesting half of the £12m obtained through selling Jack Rodwell to Manchester City.
The tricky youngster dubbed the "Belgian Ronaldo" is due at Finch Farm before the weekend is out so the medical team can check whether he can sprint, twist, turn, touch his toes, do star jumps etc. and then the deal will be complete.
Mirallas started his career at Standard Liege in Belgium before moving to Olympiacos in 2010 via spells in France with Lille and Saint Etienne. Last season he scored a total of 34 goals in 52 games in all competitions - a very impressive return for a wide player with an obvious eye for goal.
Mirallas has played for Belgium at all international levels, including 29 caps and 5 goals at full international level and played against England at Wembley at the end of last season and has just played in Belgium's win over Holland this week, getting an assist.
It is likely he will be deployed wide right with Steven Pienaar on the opposite flank.
Going the other way, but only temporarily (for four months) is youngster Ross Barkley. I for one have been saying for a long time now that if David Moyes is not going to give him game time then send him out on loan to get much needed game time - using Leon Osman's loan spells as a young prospect at Carlisle and Derby County, the latter actually trying to sign him perminantly.
My own opinion is this will benefit Ross and Everton in the long run.
