Everton seem to be looking at some midfielders to solve our current depth problem at the position.
At the moment, the most vulnerable position is midfield. We have no holding/controlling/creative midfielders to take charge of the match. Gibson has been injured and on the verge of coming back and Fellaini is injured at the moment and is usually going back and forth from the medical room. It looks like Everton have started looking for some players to fill this void.

Owls hoping to keep Barkley - TEAMtalk
"Ross is a kid and going to make mistakes, but he's some player when he drives on and plays the way he does."
-- I don't think he's exactly wowed everyone, but he is good enough that Sheffield Wednesday really want to extend him. We may recall him because of our current depth issues, but if Hitzlsperger signs, he may be extended.
Everton FC boss David Moyes undecided on deal for Thomas Hitzlsperger - Everton FC News - Everton FC - Liverpool Echo
"Thomas Hitzlsperger is yet to agree a short-term deal to boost Everton's central midfield options but a decision is imminent on the former Germany international."
-- From the article, it also says that he is very popular on the pitch. It seems that he must show he can last atleast another match before we will sign him. I actually think that we should extend Barkley's loan for now and sign Hitzlsperger. He brings experience and great play instead of Barkley's youth. It would probably be better served if Barkley gets some more experience in the lower levels before coming up.
