Everton v Bolton: Live GameThread

Landon Donovan is back folks! Looks like Moyes will be starting him instead of easing him in on the first match.

We need to beat the last place club at home with a lot of buzz around the stadium. If Moyes can't achieve this, then we have some serious problems [not] to look forward to.

Match lineups closer to game time.

As always, comment below.

Should be able to

There are only two matches on tonight so if it’s not the Man U match, people have to be watching this instead.

hahaha well we're the most exciting club in the Prem

So many goals to be scored between us it’s ridiculous. We all know Man U and Newcastle is gonna be a snoozefest.

Subs: Mucha, Bilyaletdinov, McFadden, Cahill, Gueye, Rodwell, Anichebe

by tmallows on Jan 4, 2012 7:52 PM GMT reply actions

Ok Sibi, own up...

What have you done with the real David Moyes?? This one is playing two strikers! The REAL Moyes would never dabble with such radical ideas!

I don't know

I’m freaking out right now. I think the moyes we see on the sudelines is actually a robot and someone is controlling him right now.

Osman is playing too..

Everton missed him off their squad list on Twitter!

Anyone have a stream?

I’m doing a little searching but coming up blank so far.

Match has begun

Let’s see if the crowd actually gets into it this match.

The weather looks horrible

Kinda glad I’m watching this one indoors!

by tmallows on Jan 4, 2012 8:03 PM GMT reply actions

How did Saha miss that???

He really cant buy a goal can he?

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 8:15 PM GMT reply actions

Oh god damnit Saha.....

facepalm

by jdb on Jan 4, 2012 8:15 PM GMT reply actions

idea for striker...

…replace Saha with a robot that will just randomly kick the ball in any direction. Potentially cheaper to build in-house, and not that much less effective.

Straq is like a bulldozer

Doesn’t care who is in front of him, he is going through them to get to the ball.

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 8:23 PM GMT reply actions

He is playing ok, working hard

Saha looks like he has no confidence whatsover. Landon should go up top in the second half (that’s nothing to do with the fact I have £10 him to score first, honest…..)

by tmallows on Jan 4, 2012 8:24 PM GMT reply actions

We look much much much better than the last couple of weeks

Actually some good passes outside the box and some close chances and not just shots completely off target.

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 8:35 PM GMT reply actions

But Rodwell coming in and Heitinga taking up Jags spot means more offense for us?

I like this even better, cause we now how less defensive midfielders and more attacking midfielders.

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 8:41 PM GMT up reply actions

Agreed.. this way Rodwell can lead attacks versus having Neville ‘attempting’ to break out of our half!

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

by Calvin on Jan 4, 2012 8:48 PM GMT up reply actions

I don't know

There was very little contact there

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 8:47 PM GMT up reply actions

I would say that 50/50

Not too angry that he didn’t give the penalty.

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 8:47 PM GMT up reply actions

True, but the ref gave a free kick against Donovan for an similar foul earlier in the game, plus I’m extremely biased!

by tmallows on Jan 4, 2012 8:48 PM GMT up reply actions

Goddamn.. really wish we had been more aggressive about chasing Ba.. a screamer of a goal against Man U

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

Half Time

Scores:
Newcastle 1 – 0 Man U HT

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 8:49 PM GMT reply actions

No rust in Donovan’s legs, he’s run the most of any player on the pitch.

Stracq a surprise second (for me, at least).. he’s definitely not one to hang around and wait for the ball like Saha

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

by Calvin on Jan 4, 2012 9:03 PM GMT reply actions

2nd Half starts

Come on guys, let’s score for god’s sake

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 9:03 PM GMT reply actions

THat should have been a goal

That was a hell of a save by Howard. We’re gonna choke this game and lose…

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 9:08 PM GMT reply actions

Great save there by Howard.. Bolton have actually had the better chances in this game!

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

Worrying looking ahead at the next few weeks

Did I see right that... HOWARD scored?

by jdb on Jan 4, 2012 9:22 PM GMT up reply actions

Since the strikers cannot score Tim Howard takes matters into his own hands!

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

by Calvin on Jan 4, 2012 9:21 PM GMT reply actions

Did that just happen????

Tim Howard is our best scorer…

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 9:21 PM GMT reply actions

Did Tim Howard just score?!?

My stream cut out at the worst possible time!

by Cheeseandcorn on Jan 4, 2012 9:22 PM GMT reply actions

We did NOT deserve that lead.. no surprise at all we’re tied

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

by Calvin on Jan 4, 2012 9:26 PM GMT reply actions

Karmic or whatever.. Bolton have played better than their 20th position, and we’ve played worse than our 9th position shows.

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

by Calvin on Jan 4, 2012 9:33 PM GMT up reply actions

Is there any one watching this game disputing that Bolton deserve to be ahead now?

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

well damn

And the fans are booing

Lots of negativity. I should really be talking, but the showing we are putting have been awful. Every week. We only win when we luck out.

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 4, 2012 9:43 PM GMT reply actions

Definitely the laughing stock of the Premiership tonight. Deservedly so too, no cohesion or game plan whatsoever.

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

by Calvin on Jan 4, 2012 9:51 PM GMT reply actions

We can't keep going on like this,

The team is dying slowly, I really think only relegation will force Kenwright to lower his asking price and sell up!! But by that point it will be too late!!!

by tmallows on Jan 4, 2012 9:55 PM GMT reply actions

Frustrating...

That is bad as I have seen Everton play all year. It’s one thing to not have any scoring threat, but tonight the defense was just as horrible. Maybe this is why Moyes never plays with two strikers.

Tim Howard has as many goals this season as Saha and more than Cahill, Billy, Coleman plus countless others. Something has got to change up front.

Saha, Neville and Cahill have got to be benched.

I don’t think that Gueye, Anichebe and Straq could be worse.
