Everton v Manchester City: Live GameThread (+ TransferThread)
Weird stuff going on in the Everton world right now. There are actually many rumors surrounding us. Everton have agreed to terms for Nikica Jelavic (even though the move isn't official). Louis Saha also seems to have possibly moved to the Spurs on an 18-month deal. There are also many other moves (Steven Pienaar, Adam Johnson, etc.) that seem to have at least some legs on them. The weird part of this whole day is that the rest of the EPL has been relatively quiet. This makes me feel like I'm living on the Htrae (Bizarro Earth, for those who do not know).
Before all these rumors were swirling around, I had little hope for us claiming three points today against Manchester City, but now, all of a sudden, I have all this irrational optimism. This should make Goodison Park much louder. The last year has been an odd mix of nervousness and halfhearted cheers.

The most positive we have been all season??
All this transfer business has perhaps distracted us from a very tricky game, but the imminent deal should at least ensure a loud atmosphere at Goodison.
Checking in from work
Will have to watch the match when I get home. I’m with you, all of the transfer talk has me unreasonably hyped up for this game. Honestly though, I’d take a draw here. COYB!
Oh and by the way
I am on Sky Sports duty this evening, doing the text comm on the game, do pop over and say hello from about half seven: http://www.skysports.com/football/match_commentary/0,19764,11065_3481315,00.html?reloaded
All the outrage on Twitter (as it should be)
Is that Hibbert is starting in front of Duffy at CB!! What the hell?!?!

Straq shot almost goes in but is headed out
He looks like he is going to kill someone.
The players really look very energized today.
@sibsinExile
What was with that free kick Drenthe
He’s not looking good at all today.

Gibson as well
They both seem to lose possession every time they touch it. Cahill has been nonexistent.
@sibsinExile
Dang, that was a great one-time opportunity for Fellaini.
Just mis-hit it.

I don't know
but I hope it’s some crazy story and not something like “drunk bloke blacks out and handcuffs himself to goalpost”
@sibsinExile
I think he was just trying to remind us that Everton is still based in the city of Liverpool, after all...
… and Liverpool has got a lot of nutters. Guess the ‘pool can’t take ’em all.

GIBSONNNN!!!!!
Great pass by Donovan, Even though he has been miserable…he still always knows what to do in the final 1/3
@sibsinExile
Dang, I wish we had someone on the USMNT that could finish Donovan's inevitable passes-instead-of-shots when he has a scoring opportunity.
Nicely done by Gibson.

3 points to the Toffees!
Between this and the signing, it’s actually looking like a pretty good day!
Everton 1 - 0 Man City FT!!!!
Gibson scores the winner and you can’t make a case that Man City deserved it… they had no big chances.

Alright I'm off to bed
Its already 3:30am here and I gotta wake up in 3 hours for work. Hopefully I’ll wake up to more good news?!

redknapp says deal done
Claims everything sorted with Saha

Somewhat shocked by the very positive deadline day results
Saha finally off, Peanut back at Everton, a bona fide striker at the Club, and a win over the team at the top of the table. Well done indeed.
Nothing like I expected. Though after selling Vaughn-Beckford-Yakubu-Arteta-Bilya (I man how much is that in fees and wages alone?) it is about time they did something in the transfer time besides 1-2 17-19 year olds.
Wonder if Peanut has the loan deal not to play against the Spurs?

Happy
Pienaar loan confirmed
Saha LOAN confirmed (obviously means we retain the right to recall him if necessary)
Jeli SIGNS
Gibson, Donovan…
3 POINTS
plus Billy shipped out last week. Couldn’t be much better.

Best Everton day in a while, right?
Can’t believe the positive vibes, from the great win to the productive new players, to now the excellent transactions. The team suddenly looks strong almost all over the pitch, has decent depth on the bench, and cracks the top-10.
And in the end, they’re still net positive money-wise on the year, right? Nice to see they could improve without digging the hole any deeper.
