Everton v Blackburn: Live GameThread

I don't even know what to say in these gamethreads anymore. It's the same situation every week and it is honestly making me very restless as a fan. We don't win any of the games we should.

This is a match we should win, but we probably won't. Knowing our luck, Yakubu will probably have a hat trick and destroy my soul in the process (Yakubu is suspended, which I forgot). I have conceded this much, so I'll just stop my whining and get on to more happy things...our injury report.

We have a lot of players still recovering from injuries. That list includes Jagielka, Osman, Rodwell, Hibbert, Coleman, Distin, and Barkley were all out last week and will probably be out this week. This, as you all probably have noticed, makes out squad very thin and makes our back line very vulnerable. If anyone gets injured, we pretty much have no one replace them

So let's all pray.

Match lineups will be up closer to match time.

As always, comment below.

I like that Moyes is finally starting players who, in theory, have the ability to score goals. It’s a sad time when I have more confidence in Anichebe scoring than almost anyone else on the pitch.

Would definitely like to see Vellios get the start, especially after his reserves hat-trick

Smile.. tomorrow will be worse.

I’m watching on Comcast’s Fox Soccer standard def channel, so you’ll have to keep me updated on what’s happening. I’ve watched scrambled porn channels with better picture quality.

It's really frustrating.

I usually go to a bar when Everton’s on Fox Soccer, but we got a bunch of snow last night and I didn’t feel like venturing out.

haha yea FSC regular is pretty awful.

When HD finally came out I was really pumped, but then I moved out of the country so all my waiting for a decent quality channel in the US was wasted.

Where are you living now?

by mattjg on Jan 21, 2012 3:08 PM GMT up reply actions

India but they got an HD soccer channel right after I moved

But I’ll be moving out of here soon too, so who knows what soccer channels they have wherever I go.

We are looking pretty awful right now

No way we keep a clean sheet today.

Not even close to being onside.

by mattjg on Jan 21, 2012 3:13 PM GMT reply actions

Nice strike though

Wish we had someone who could do that

by Brian_Goodison on Jan 21, 2012 3:14 PM GMT reply actions

Atleast we're playing a bit better now

The defense has settled a bit.
Saha is down though

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 21, 2012 3:22 PM GMT reply actions

It looks like a minor injury, so Saha should only miss a month or two.

by mattjg on Jan 21, 2012 3:22 PM GMT reply actions

CAHILLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

IT’s OVER. NO DROUGHT!!!

Definitely a mini handball there by Fellaini

But we need goals however we can get them

You're right

Once in the final third, he makes really good attacking decisions that no one else on our team seems to make.

^^^^^^^ (One of the only times that has ever been said about Donovan.)

Seriously, I love the guy, and thank goodness Everyon seems to draw out the best in him. I just wish we could see some of that attacking initiative on the National team. He only attacks for the USMNT on breakaways, which you rarely get against the good teams.

We still need to pick it up

I really want to hear Moyes team talk, I bet they will be quivering in fear

by Brian_Goodison on Jan 21, 2012 3:40 PM GMT reply actions

Cahill with almost a second

He may go on a tear soon. He looks angry.

Not seen any of the game

I’m being treated to Stoke v WBA instead, how have we played? Well chuffed for Timmy, he needed that!

by tmallows on Jan 21, 2012 3:57 PM GMT reply actions

Its ugly

A good 10-15 minutes stretch of quality, otherwise Blackburn has been the better team

That was a very awkward encounter between Osman and Yakubu

especially because they’re sitting so close

Goal Blackburn

That was a long time coming.

by mattjg on Jan 21, 2012 4:30 PM GMT reply actions

I was saying this the whole time

We needed desperately to get another goal cause they were gonna score atleast one.

Vellios on for Anichebe

We seem to always be in this position. Tied with a goal needed in the last 10 minutes…

So close....

Drenthe plays at 100 mph all the time. If he could just keep himself a little more controlled, he’d be awesome.

by mattjg on Jan 21, 2012 4:42 PM GMT reply actions

How do we not get something there?

Karma. Don't deserve 3 points from this.

Can’t expect to play so poorly for 90 minutes and come away with a win at the last second.

Say no to Prince Fielder in 2012.

by Knubles and Bits on Jan 21, 2012 4:51 PM GMT up reply actions

OMG!!

So close, how did we not score it there!! Cleared off the line

@sibsinExile

by SibiGnana on Jan 21, 2012 4:50 PM GMT reply actions

That sucked. Who scores more Friday—Everton or Clint Dempsey?
