Heading Stateside - Toffees 'Keeper Tim Howard.
With Everton already playing DC United in July ahead of next season rumours were abound as to the indentity of the other team they would play on their US tour. The Unionhad already been mentioned in mattjg's fanshot a few weeks ago but it was only today that the club confirmed the Toffees would be traveling to the 18,500 capacity PPL Park in Chester to play Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, 20 July.
This is, of course, great news for our US based readers and I will make sure we hook up with SBNation's Union blog The Brotherly Game ahead of the big match. Speaking to the official Everton website Tim Howard said:
"Philadelphia Union is a fantastic Club and I'm really looking forward to playing against them.
"Nick Sakiewicz brought me through the ranks when I was younger, I'm friends with members of their coaching staff and one of my best friends, Danny Califf, plays for them.
"It's a Club whose results I look out for and hope they do well."
"It will be a tough game for us. They will be in the mould of their manager Piotr Novak. He's a tough, hard-nosed former Polish international who doesn’t back down.
"I know for a fact from being very close to him that he expects nothing less from his team as well."
What do you guys think of this friendly? Will any of you be going? Please leave your comments below.
