Gamethread Everton at Newcastle

Figured I would start one Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Arteta, Neville, Rodwell, Osman, Saha, Beckford Looks like a 4-1-3-2 Neville at Def Mid, Arteta on the left, Rodwell center and Osman on the left. Bench...Mucha, Heitinga, Anichebe, Bilyaletdinov, Coleman, Duffy, Baxter. Quick Recapt 2-1 Boys in blue We go down 1-0 after Leon Best got on the end of a rebound from a block shot by Howard. Then we go level after Osman slots home an easy one after Arteta picked him out. We take the lead after a free kick by Baines (who should take those) sends a great cross that Jags volleys high off the top cross bar into the net.

Half Time

Everton avoid giving up the equaliser with a late flurry by the Toon. Everton has had a few chances to extend the lead. It could very well turn into a 4-4 type game with the chances available for both teams.

Nice for us to climb within 3 of Pool if we can hold on (or better yet extend the lead)

by SCPhillyFan on Mar 5, 2011 3:52 PM GMT reply actions

Yeah lets not start playing negative and try to sit on the lead

That usually backfires on us. See if Moyes can control himself.

In other Premier League action

West Ham over Stoke 2-0 at the half WTF? Its crazy how jumbled up the table is in slots 6-20—-with only 12 points separating the 6th placed team from the bottom.

Great response from the boys in blue

Like someone else already mentioned, I thought we were in for a long match after the early goal, and now we have the lead at HT.

COYB!

Neville off, Heitinga on

Neville picked up an injury, walked off the field. Hopefully he’ll be alright.

Arteta lead a nice attack

Beckford denied by a good save and Osman/Arteta with nice passing.

Too bad Arteta’s corner sucked

Streams?

Any flash streams that don’t require installing anything? Running on my Chrome laptop right now, so can’t install things.

Thanks. Great to see 2-1. Too bad AT&T U-Verse teased me with Fox Soccer+ in HD last weekend, then took it away and said it would cost $15 a month for JUST that channel.Highway robbery.

You're lucky that didn't happen :)

Well done Everton!! Now if some of those would have went in at the end, it would have been even more impressive.

3 POINTS!!!!!

So, how did they perform today? Did I miss a great match?

by StiflersMom on Mar 5, 2011 4:57 PM GMT reply actions

Should have been 4-1 or at least 3-1

We wasted a bunch of great chances

We looked spotty on defense but much more dangerous with Arteta playing down the left wing. Rodwell was mia in the center but the forwards made the back 4 of Newcastle work.

Easily could have won by multiple goals. Baines had another fantastic free kick Jags volleyed in. Osman was decent down the right wing.

Entertaining match that was back and forth on the pitch for the entire match.

by SCPhillyFan on Mar 5, 2011 5:00 PM GMT up reply actions

Arteta played as left wing? Damn, sounds interesting. Thanks for the short recaps, guys.

by StiflersMom on Mar 5, 2011 5:05 PM GMT up reply actions

Full Time!

At least we picked up another 3 points. We need 5th or (hopefully) 6th for Europe. Is it possible?
