Why I Root for Everton.

I am an American who honestly had no interest in soccer until this year. I got to college and my room mate was a gigantic soccer fan, and I almost had no choice but to start following the sport at least to some extent. After I started watching, I wanted to choose a team to follow, and it was suggested by friends to choose a team in the English Premiere League, because its a fairly prominent league and easy to follow because it is broadcasted in English. So from here I had to go through a team picking process. I wanted to make sure of the following things.

1. I did not want to root for an absolute band-wagon team. Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U were all eliminated from the get-go.

2. I did not want to pick a team that was soon to get relegated, so I avoided teams in the basement.

3. This is what most affected my decision once I got done with #s 1 and 2. I wanted the team I rooted for to have some type of American presence. Tim Howard is phenomenal and at the time Landon Donavon was playing for the team, so that without question helped draw my interest.

Basically I came down to a point where I had to choose between Everton and Liverpool, who I found out to be arch rivals. At this point, the American influence greatly pulled me towards Everton, and not going to lie, the Blue of the jerseys is a pull factor. So this is how I became a fan of Everton FC, cannot wait for next season to follow my first full season.
